The present Tiantong Temple basically maintains its rebuilt pattern 400 years ago， The temple is grand in scale and presents a stepped layout in general。

The temple was first built in the first year of Yongkang period in the Western Jin Dynasty (AD 300) and got its name because the Taibai Heavenly Child descended to the world to assist in the building of the temple.

The four characters “Dongnan Fuoguo” (Buddhist Country in Southeast China) on the screen wall was the handwriting of Mr. Dai Jitao, “national master of Jiang Jieshi”

The Hall of Heavenly Kings is called so because it is mainly dedicated to Four Heavenly Kings guarding the Dharma. In addition, there are also statues of Maitreya and Weituotian in the hall.

The Buddha Hall, also known as the Daxiong Baodian (Treasure Hall of the Great Sage), is the core building in a Buddhist temple.

Thus this stele was erected in the autumn of 1980, when Qin Huiyu, Abbot of Eiheiji Temple, the base of Japanese Caodong Zong, paid homepage to Tiantong Temple with other monks.
